The Captured Actor, and a New Company is Born!

Well, this is being written in the darkest depths of Covid19 quarantine. However, I am delighted to be able to finally say that the rather rushed-together documentary 'The Captured Actor' has finally been put up on YouTube; just click here.

In case you didn't know from earlier posts, this is a documentary film put together for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, based in Glasgow, for a staff conference in September of last year. The film deals with the question posed for the conference of how modern technology is impacting the acting profession. I was invited to focus on the videogames industry, but I expanded that to include how the tech used in games is also now used in modern theatre. The folks at the National Theatre were kind enough to let me show a little of the incredible work they are doing.

With the help of the marvellous folks at Side UK, the NT, and the very generous interviewees, the film was organised, shot, edited and on screen at the conference in a matter of a couple of weeks. Since then, extra footage has been added in, and the whole thing runs to just under an hour.
My sincere and endless thanks to all involved, particularly to Slink who managed to make something of the footage and audio I dumped in his lap. He worked as close to a miracle as he could.

In other news, I launched Embra Again Productions Ltd. this month. The logo comes from my astonishingly talented pal in Japan, Kim, and you'll see the animated version appearing at the end of the films we make. The company exists simply because it's easier to sort out funding if you have one. It's also nice to have an identity that can be put on the things we create. Onward!
