The incomparable Jeremy Bulloch recently announced his
retirement from the fan event circuit. I had the considerable honour of working
with Jeremy at a number of events, and meeting him beyond those chaotic cons. I
interviewed him back in 1998 for the original UK Star Wars Fan Club, such as it
was, and that’s the interview you will find here. I didn’t have the pure text
version, which is why you are being subjected to the scan of the original (from
the third and penultimate magazine, trivia fans).
Whatever praise has been heaped on Jeremy, and there has
been and will be a great deal, is not enough. He did so much for fans in the UK
and across the world, and not just for Star Wars fans – Robin of Sherwood and Doctor
Who fans also profited from his presence. His genuine love and respect for the fans comes out in this interview; and it was genuine. Kind to a fault, patient to a saintly
degree, Jeremy was and is the champion we fans deserved and needed.
Thank you, Jeremy. And mind the doors!

If you're looking for other Star Wars interviews, there are a couple more on the blog:
Peter Diamond, stunt coordinator, John Hollis, who played Lobot, and Don Henderson, who played General Tagge.
A scan of the original photo I took at the interview - terrible camera meant terrible photo. |
